Seashell
Chardonnay
Overview | Vintages Available | Press
Named for its deep, dry-farmed sandy loam soils, the Seashell Vineyard is distinguished by inclusions of Neroly sandstone embedded with ancient scallop shell fossils. Located in the northeastern portion of the ranch at the base of the Carneros escarpment, the site is naturally protected from the harsh western afternoon sun. This unique combination of soil and exposure yields a wine that is rich and expressive, balanced by bright saline acidity and a pronounced mineral structure that reflects its singular sense of place. The Seashell Chardonnay holds special significance in the Hudson portfolio, having earned two consecutive 100-point scores, an extraordinary recognition of the vineyard’s potential and consistency.
