Laughing Lands

Merlot

Each year, only a select portion of Hudson’s finest Merlot rows are chosen for Laughing Lands. The name honors the Coastal Miwok tribe, who referred to this area as “Talcoa,” meaning “Laughing Lands.” Nearly four decades ago, Lee Hudson was among the pioneers to plant Bordeaux varieties in the cool Carneros region, including Merlot, with vines dating back to the 1980s. The result is a distinctive expression of old vine Merlot that is dense and structured yet bright, with captivating energy and a luxurious, lingering finish.
