Situated deep in the heart of the gently rolling hills of Napa, Carneros, Hudson Vineyards produces grapes of distinction from uniquely situated sites. In addition to being the source of our Hudson Vineyards’ wines, grapes are sold to 32 wineries, some of which produce wines that proudly bear the ‘Hudson Vineyards’ designation. Three white varieties (Chardonnay, Viognier and Roussanne) and seven red varieties (Syrah, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Petit Sirah and Barbera) are produced from these soils.
Carneros is one of the finest grape growing regions in the United States. The cooling breezes off the Bay of San Francisco allow the grapes a longer hang time in which to develop flavor and intensity, without sacrificing acidity and balance.
This site was originally known as Talcoa Vineyards, an Indian name meaning ‘laughing land.’ It was on these lands in the 1880’s that the first American successful scientific experiments were carried out to overcome phylloxera, which was devastating the vineyards of Europe.
